How many projects should I invest in?
Diversification is a personal choice, but here's some guidance:
Start small: If you're new to UOWN, maybe start with one project at the minimum (£50) to get comfortable with how everything works. Once you understand the process and see how updates work, you can invest more.
The diversification principle: Generally, spreading risk across multiple projects is wiser than putting everything in one. If you have £500 to invest, five projects at £100 each is typically better than one project at £500. This way, if one project underperforms, others might compensate.
Consider your total portfolio: Property crowdfunding should usually be just part of your investment portfolio, not all of it. Think about how UOWN fits with your other investments (stocks, bonds, savings, etc.).
Different project types: If diversifying, try to pick different types of projects – maybe one residential, one commercial, one refurbishment, one new build. Also consider different locations and timelines.
Timeline management: Consider staggering investments so they complete at different times. This provides more regular returns rather than everything exiting at once.
Our typical investor: Most active UOWN investors have 3-5 projects in their portfolio, though some have just one and others have 10+. The average investment per project is around £300-500.
Don't over-diversify: While diversification is good, spreading too thin can be inefficient. If you only have £200 to invest, four projects at £50 each might be unnecessarily complicated – maybe two at £100 is better.
Quality over quantity: Better to invest in 2-3 projects you really understand and believe in than 10 projects you picked randomly.
Remember: only invest money you can afford to lose, and ensure you have emergency savings and other investments outside of property crowdfunding. There's no perfect number – it depends on your financial situation, risk tolerance, and investment goals.
