How do I report investment returns to HMRC?

You'll need to report your UOWN investment returns through self-assessment:

Self-assessment: If you don't already complete a tax return, you may need to register for self-assessment if your gains exceed the annual allowance.

Registration deadline: You must register by 5 October following the tax year in which you made the gain.

Filing deadline: Submit your tax return by 31 January following the end of the tax year (31 October for paper returns).

What to report: Include all gains from UOWN investments, even if below the annual allowance. Report the disposal proceeds and your original cost.

Record keeping: Keep all UOWN statements, investment confirmations, and exit documents for at least 5 years.

Getting help: Consider using an accountant if you're unsure. HMRC also provides guidance on completing self-assessment returns.
